Another Reason To "NOT" Wear Your Dentures At Night

Please read this Scientific article relating to pneumonia and it's potential increased prevalence by nighttime denture wear.
We are always telling our patients to remove their dentures at night due to potential inflammation and microbial burden but the high risk of pneumonia is very interesting and concerning.
Bottom line......Take out those dentures at night!  More than 40 % increase in pneumonia potential when you don't.

Itero Digital Scanner.....no more messy goop and gagging!

I love this technology.  I always knew playing video games as a child would pay off.  For the past 6 months we have been using the Itero digital scanner in our practice.  At this point we are using the scanner for the creation of precise fitting crowns, bridges and implant restorations.  In the future we will be able to really get immersed in this technology with the ability to merge scans with cone beam radiography to create surgical stents for implant surgery.  These are exciting times in dentistry!  Check out the Itero Scanner!
If you remember getting impressions for a crown or appliance, you will remember the goopy material that would be used to create the impression.  These impressions, while effective,  were messy and if you had a severe gag reflex they could cause some undue stress to the patient and dentist.  This is all eliminated with the use of the Itero scanner!

Digital Xrays!

We are excited to have recently added digital radiography to the office.  As we implement this technology to the office you might notice a new routine or change to the routine you are used to.  The benefits of digital x-rays are numerous.  Probably the most important benefit of digital is the reduction in exposure to the patient.  Without going into detail you will be exposed to at least half the radiation dose as a standard exposure that we used to use.  Be advised that standard exposure is very little to begin with, so now you are getting half of that little amount which is a great thing.
